Genting Highlands Resort,Pahang,Malaysia

Located less than an hour away from Kuala Lumpur via the East West Highway,

the Genting Highlands Resort is a perfect weekend family getaway for people

in Kuala Lumpur hoping to escape the congestion, noise, filth and crime and most

of all the intense heat, Kuala Lumpur being designated as one of the hottest urban

heat traps in the world.

Originally conceived as a gambling centre, most of the gaming activities have now

being relocated to Singapore,China,USA and also to the Genting owned Star

Cruise Liners. This is partly due to the progressive Islamisation of the country and

also the realisation ,as in China and history, that gambling is a vice that cannot be

tolerated in any society peopled by Chinese as it is as destructive as drugs.

The hills are popular because of the cool temperature and also the mostly unspoilt

beauty of the natural environment. The built up areas at the peak that include hotels,

theme parks,a Golf Course and apartments are very well kept and clean and a far

cry from the polluted, littered and unkempt city of Kuala Lumpur. It is a place where

people mind their manners and where there are multitudes of staff to pick after their

littering ways.

The most attractive part of the retreat should be the Buddhist Temple and Pagoda

and the Taoist and Buddhist Theme Park depicting the Circle of Life.

Unlike other Theme Parks or Seaside resorts this is one of the very few which

is unspoilt and naturally air-conditioned.If there is any place in Malaysia with a

semblance of paradise or Shangri La,this is it.
